Our Youth Advisory Board is made up of young people aged 16-24 who meet regularly to advise and inform hyh.
The YAB’s real-life experiences and insights are a big part of what makes hyh stronger. They keep hyh connected to what young people actually need and care about.
Summarising the Youth Survey
Our Future Roots housemates helped us design the Youth Survey summary posters, making sure they're made with bright and 'non-corporate' colours, an uncrowded layout with picture graphics, and a bullet point writing style.
Strategy Video
'Young people won't read a strategy document' said our YAB.
That's why we decided to create a short video with its key points. Designed, directed and starred in by young people.
Fundraising Efforts
We’ve recently joined Run for Charity unlocking access to over 800 exciting, accessible and inclusive fundraising events.

Our new mediation monitoring form created with feedback from the YAB makes room for respect, individuality and selfexpression.
Explaining hyh
Our education department have developed a new service diagram to convey our services more fluently when visiting schools, colleges and youth groups.
Artie's Story
We had Artie join us at hyh to share their experience of neurodiversity. Their talk was insightful and valuable to all members of staff.
Work Experience
We had some amazing work experience students join us this year so far. They've been updating our website, planning blogs and making sure our services are youth led. More to come!
Recruitment and Induction of YAB 2026
Our newest YAB members joined us for a fun day of learning, team building and creation. We're excited for the year ahead! Big thanks to Joel one of our YAB Alum's for helping out with the recruitment.
End of YAB 2025 Celebration
We celebrated the end of an amazing year with our Youth Advisory Board with an escape room which we completed in 45 mins - woo go team YAB!
Wills Story
We were lucky to have a previous service user Will come into hyh to share his story of being Transgender and his experiences of Youth Homelessness. The talk was insightful and powerful.
Strategy Launch
Steph and Lewis from the YAB joined us at Hatfield House for our Strategy Launch event where they held a Q+A session about their work on the strategy.
Home 2030 Visual ID
We had a creative session with our YAB designing the ID for our Strategy, Home 2030. We went with themes of growth, nature, and 'home'.

Testing the Chatbot
Our YAB got stuck in testing our new Chatbot feature, they made sure that it's ethical, non-judgemental and safe for young people to use.

A consultation with our Future Roots housemates enabled us to coproduce our next strategy informed by lived experience.

YAB Strategy Day
The YAB gathered for a Strategy Day where fresh ideas were shared, previous strategies evaluated and proposed projects were reviewed. The marketing of our next strategy was discussed in detail too- more to come on this!
Charity Track Day
Our YAB members came along to hyh’s Charity Track Day where they shared the work they do with our sponsors and supporters.
We were also lucky enough to bring some of our work experience students along to see hyh fundraising in action!
