The Big Give
Seven days to double your donation for free to help young people in need this Christmas. Please help us this winter.
We are asking all of our supporters to help as we join The Big Give Christmas Challenge this winter to enable us to continue supporting vulnerable, young people across Hertfordshire during the winter months.
With youth homelessness sadly increasing, our services are needed now more than ever. The winter months are some of the most difficult for young homeless people and those who are facing homelessness.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge gives supporters the opportunity to double their donation for free. For one week only, from Tuesday 1st December at midday, all donations made through The Big Give website will be doubled. This means a £10 donation to hyh will be doubled by The Big Give to £20 at no cost to the person donating. One donation, twice the impact.
Twice the impact for our services that will continue to support young, vulnerable people who are in need more than ever. Every year around 2,000 young people are referred to us for help, and in many cases it is clear that their homelessness could have been prevented.
Being homeless is a disaster for anyone, but for a young person it can be a tragedy that sets a pattern for the rest of their lives which is why it is our mission to prevent this in Hertfordshire.
Even without crises such as what we have experienced this year, leaving home can sometimes seem an attractive, or easier option than staying put when you are young. But finding and keeping accommodation is fraught with difficulty, and all too easily teenagers can find themselves without a place they can call home.
Young people currently leaving home are faced with a housing market in change, where few housing options are available, and significant changes to benefits are taking place.
That’s why we are asking for your help this Christmas. We have set ourselves an ambitious target of £12,000 and need your support to help us reach this. We are pleased to share that we have teamed up with our incredible Champion, The Four Acre Trust, as well as Echelon Consultancy who’s generous support will make up our match funds.
If we do exceed our target before the campaign ends, we will also qualify for The Christmas Challenge Awards which means we could be in with the chance of winning a monetary prize – an amazing opportunity to support more young people and their families across the county whilst raising awareness of our services. If the match funds are all used up before the end of Giving Week, you can still donate. Although your donation will not be doubled, it will still count and will enable us to support even more young, vulnerable people across Hertfordshire this Christmas. Please give generously to help transform young people's lives across the county.
