Thank you

Plans are now well underway for the 2024 St Albans Sleepout, our biggest event of the year, which is kindly sponsored by local businesses Mulalley and Echelon.

Mulalley is a family owned and directed construction company who have been a key supporter for hyh since 2019, driven by their longstanding commitment to invest in the communities they work within and to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable young people who are facing homelessness. Bruce Benson, managing director for Mulalley, said “by sponsoring this event, Mulalley aims to raise vital funds that will directly contribute to providing essential services and support for these young individuals. Our involvement reflects a genuine desire to address the critical issue of youth homelessness and create positive change in the community.”

As well as sponsoring the event, Bruce and his team will be taking to their sleeping bags and braving a night in the cold at the Sleepout to further support the event and raise awareness of the cruel realities of homelessness.

Co-sponsors Echelon are a leading procurement firm who have raised over £100,000 to date since their involvement with hyh first began in 2016.

Mathew Baxter, Echelon Group CEO, said “hyh first came to my attention back in late 2016 when we were looking for a local charity to raise some money for at our annual conference. It was my son, Dominic, who alerted me to the great work that the charity undertakes locally (he had interaction through his school). As soon as I got to know the amazing team at hyh I became more involved and was incredibly proud to become a Trustee in 2018.”

Alongside other colleagues from Echelon, Mathew has participated in the Sleepout multiple times collecting sponsorship for his challenges “attending the sleepout is always a sobering event. To do this for one night a year, in a controlled (and safe) environment is horrible enough, but to know this is lots of people’s everyday (and night) situation is utterly heartbreaking.”

This is the second year both Echelon and Mulalley have sponsored the Sleepout, with last years event raising just over £50,000 for Herts Young Homeless alone, as well as incredible funds raised for the other participating charities; Centre 33, The Living Room, Open Door and Emmaus Hertfordshire.

The kind sponsorship greatly contributes to the success of the event, from all of us here at hyh, we would like to say a huge thank you to Mulalley and Echelon!
