A fantastic community focused event with a race suitable for all abilities!

The St Albans Half Marathon is back on Sunday 9th June 2024 and we would love to have you take part in aid of Herts Young Homeless.

All participants will receive a medal and ice lolly upon crossing the finish line from the event organisers, as well as ongoing fundraising support from the Herts Young Homeless team and a hyh running top to wear on the day!

Registration fees vary depending on your choice of race, these fees are paid directly to the event organisers upon sign up. We do not ask for a minimum fundraising target if you choose to run for Herts Young Homeless, we just support you to raise as much as you can! All the money you can raise helps us to support young people in Hertfordshire who are facing homelessness.

St Albans Half Marathon

Half Marathon, Wheelchair Half and Walking Half - Perfect for those looking for a challenge! Starting and finishing in Verulam Park, the scenic route takes participants on a challenging but rewarding closed-road route through the country lanes of St Albans. Although you may come across a hill or two, the view from the top makes it worthwhile! Known as the friendliest Half Marathon in the area, event marshals will cheer you on with their fancy dress and a free ice lolly will be waiting for you at the finish line!

5k - The 5k is open to everyone over the age of 11 and takes participants on a route around Verulam Park. You’ll still get to experience the fantastic and friendly atmosphere the event is famous for! Perfect for experienced runners aiming for a personal best or new runners looking to complete a shorter route.

Fun Run – The 1.5mile fun run is a great way to get kids active at the start of summer! Children aged 8 and over can run it alone, but those 7 years and under must run with an adult. The route is based in Verulam Park and there will be marshals on hand to cheer you across the finish line!

corporate

The event proudly hosts the SA Law Challenge whereby local businesses gather a group of at least 3 colleagues and sign up to take part in either the Half Marathon or 5k in support of their chosen charity. The winning business team is awarded a trophy as well as a £250 donation to their charity.

Participating businesses will be mentioned in the events e-newsletter (with 65,000 subscribers) and all participating colleagues will receive a free finishers T-Shirt, race medal, ice lolly and finishers goodies. During the day your team will also have exclusive access to the SA Law Corporate Zone available only to challenge entrants and VIPs. Here you will have the best view of the start and finish line, as well as private toilets, outdoor seating and games to keep you entertained.

A fantastic way for your business to publicly show your support for Herts Young Homeless and be involved in a big local event! The hyh team will be here to support you every step of the way with your fundraising and provide participating colleagues with hyh running tops.

Primary Schools

A fantastic way for your school to get involved in a big local event and encourage students to keep fit and active at the start of the school holidays!

The aim of the challenge is for students to complete a 1 mile a day run in the build up to the event, so once they have run the 1.5mile fun run on the event day they will have completed their own Half Marathon!

There is no obligation to support a charity for your school to take part, but by selecting Herts Young Homeless it will help to motivate the students by knowing they are running for a worthwhile cause and help us raise vital funds to support young people in our community who are facing homelessness. We can provide you with ongoing fundraising support and help with sign ups, as well as cheer your students on at the event and provide all runners with a certificate and hyh badge.

There are two prizes on the day for Primary Schools to win; a prize for the school with the highest percentage of students taking part this year compared to last, and a prize for the school with the greatest number of students taking part. The winning schools will be invited to the podium on the day and will later attend a formal presentation evening for a donation cheque to their school.
