Out Cycle Homelessness

With all mass participation sportive events having been cancelled or postponed for the next few months, we have a virtual solution for you. Whether you’re new to cycling or an experienced rider, Out Cycle Homelessness is perfect for anyone.

Why Out Cycle Homelessness? Here are just a few benefits of signing up with team hyh!

Cycle where you want

With  this cycling initiative, there is no specific location for you to have to get to and it doesn’t require you to travel anywhere too far from your house. Whether it’s your favourite local route, a new scenic route you’d like to try or a chance for you to see where the roads take you, you can cycle wherever you want to in a location of your choice.

You choose the challenge

Within this challenge, there are three levels for you to choose from. We have a Bronze award, Silver award and Gold award on offer for you to choose which one you’d like to take on.

Gold
Cycle a total of 400km throughout June
Silver
Cycle a total of 300km throughout June
BronzeBronze
Cycle a total of 200km throughout June

Out Cycle Homelessness is open for everyone of any age or ability.

Complete it in your own time

Not only can you choose your distance, do it at a pace that suits you too. Choose your daily or weekly distances and complete them any time of day. Perfect for being flexible around your work and home life currently.

Get Motivated

Having a set goal and challenge often makes it much easier to get motivated and push yourself further. Whether you want to get back into cycling or looking for something you haven’t done before, Out Cycle Homelessnes is here for just that. You will have regular communications from our Community and Events Officer with motivational hints and tips.

Get Rewarded

You will receive a stunning, bespoke virtual medal that we have had created with a local designer for this specific cycling challenge. Something a bit different to add to your collection and remind you of your fantastic achievement.

Join a Cycling Community

When you register, we’ll suggest that you download Strava and we’ll invite you to join our Out Cycle Homelessness group. There you can start recording your distances to work towards your final total. You can comment on and share your ride routes with others for inspiration and encouragement. Give and receive ‘kudos’ from other riders taking part within our hyh cycling community.

And most importantly...

We want you to have fun whilst raising vital funds for vulnerable young people across Hertfordshire.

For young people facing homelessness, life was hard enough before the Coronavirus outbreak. Now they are facing worries about food shortages, where to self-isolate and benefit delays. You could help hyh continue to deliver its essential services to those who are homeless by donating what you would usually spend on a sportive entry fee and having your friends and family sponsor you. Set up your donations page by clicking on Fundraise for Us at https://hertsyounghomeless.charitycheckout.co.uk/profile. Those who raise more than £100 will receive a brand new hyh branded stainless steel water bottle!

Following the Government’s advice, daily exercise on your own or in small household groups is recommended and key to your own physical and mental health. This virtual fundraiser enables you to give yourself a new challenge, set your own targets and also fundraise for local homeless young people.

We would love local cycling clubs to support us with this fundraiser,

so please spread the word and let’s Out Cycle Homelessness together!

We are also super excited to release our Junior OutCycle Homelessness challenge. Get your little ones out in the open over the summer holidays and take part in our Outcycle Homelessness fundraiser. Blow the dust off those bikes and have your children set themselves a target for how far they can cycle over a 4 consecutive week period. Send us your target and we’ll send you hints and tips of how to keep your juniors engaged in the challenge. Each participant will receive a bespoke shiny virtual medal for taking part in the challenge.

Your child will also receive a free hyh water bottle when they raise over £50.

Sign up today for a fun summer activity!
