Mediation
What is the service?
A confidential, impartial mediation service that works with families in Hertfordshire who are having arguments. Mediators offer fair and unbiased support to help families recognise for themselves what issues need to be resolved. They work with young people and their families to help them resolve their arguments and move forward in a way that feels fair to everyone involved. Mediation helps the family understand what may have led to arguments in the first place and lets them control how the situation is resolved..
Our mediators are fully qualified and highly skilled in managing difficult discussions and high emotions within family meetings. They will not judge, tell anyone what to do, take sides or give advice. They will help families to find their own solutions and make lasting changes in how they talk to each other, resulting in fewer arguments and improving family relationships.
Each individual will meet with a mediator on their own to talk about what has been happening. and, if everyone involved thinks mediation will help, further meetings will be arranged in a comfortable and neutral environment.
Depending on the requirements, one or two mediators could be involved. They are trained to help families talk about the issues that are important and to deal with difficult discussions. They will help to find a way forward that seems fair and practical to everyone involved.
