Jacobs Story

Jacob's Story

Jacob got in touch with our Homeless Hub as he was asked to leave his family home due to ongoing family breakdown and conflict with both his Mum and Dad

Our team were able to place Jacob into an emergency crash pad space initially and began working with him and our partner agencies to put together a housing plan. As there was family conflict at home, the team also referred Jacob to our mediation service as well as referring him to local hostels too.

Once his crash pad placement had ended, he then moved into supported accommodation and the team were able to provide him with a starter pack kindly donated to hyh. This enabled Jacob to have all the essentials he needed to continue his journey of living independently in his new home. Due to being on Universal Credit, he needed to budget his money each month for rent, food shopping and travel so the starter pack meant that he didn’t have to worry about using a big part of his Universal Credit on buying essentials, and was able to budget successfully in his first month of independent living.

Jacob is now looking forward and focusing on the future continuing to live independently after receiving support from the Homeless Hub team.
