The hyh Great Big Walk for Herts – September 30th 2023

Join us as we walk the Hertfordshire Way from Markyate to St Albans to raise money for hyh.

We are working with Helping Herts again this year, a charity that is working with 12 Hertfordshire-based charities to raise money for children and young people.

Each charity will be taking a different section of the walk on September 30th so the whole 195 miles of the Hertfordshire Way will be walked in a single day between us all.

Our section, from Markyate to St Albans, will be guided by Ian, a Hertfordshire Way expert who will ensure we don’t get lost.  The 11 mile walk takes in the picturesque Gorhambury Estate, Redbournbury Mill and the villages of Flamstead, Redbourn and Markyate. We have sorted free parking in St Albans and a free transfer to Markyate is being provided by Corker Cars.

St Mary’s Church, Redbourn, are providing a complimentary lunch again this year (sandwiches, crisps, cake, fruit)  and we will finish at Westminster Lodge in Verulamium Park where their team will be on hand to celebrate your success and help you stretch out your tired legs.

So whether you come as a team, you walk with your dog or you come on your own, join us and help us to raise money for hyh this September.

Registration is £15 a person or £40 for a family (2 adults and up to 4 children).

Click below to book your place. Once your place is confirmed, a fundraising page will be set up for you.

Sponsorship

We are asking our walkers to try and raise a minimum sponsorship of £100; and thanks to Chaldean Charitable Trust, all your donations will be doubled.

If you reach £100 you can have an hyh tshirt or hyh bottle to say thank you. If you raise over £150 we will give you both! You can also opt for us to purchase 1 tonne of carbon to support renewable energy projects instead to celebrate your incredible fundraising!. We know that committing to raise a specific amount can seem a bit daunting which is why we’re here to help every step of the way. If you have signed up and are struggling with your fundraising then please do get in touch.
