On Friday 6 December, 120 people braved the cold and slept out in support of hyh and our partner charities, Centre 33, Emmaus, Open Door and The Living Room, kindly hosted by Oaklands College. The atmosphere was fantastic with a great sense of camaraderie between participants.

On arrival, participants were invited to join Cardboard Creative sessions, led by St Albans Arts, to make and decorate their own cardboard pod shelters for the night. This activity was enjoyed by sleepers of all ages and followed by live music from Rae Kelly and Sassa, also from St Albans Arts.

We were once again very lucky to have dry weather and were spared of the fierce winds from the previous year, making the experience much more comfortable for our supporters.

The event was a brilliant success, raising over £25,000 for Herts Young Homeless alone – the most we have ever raised! We have so many people to thank for helping us to make that happen, including St Albans Arts and our kind sponsors Morgan Sindall Property Services. As always, we are so grateful for the support and assistance throughout the event we have received from the staff at Oaklands College.

Above all, we must thank our incredible sleepers for joining us in support of our cause.

We sleep out so others don’t have to.
