Local TSB branch manager Maria Militello put her best foot forward to raise £155 for Hatfield-based charity Herts Young Homeless (hyh) with a sponsored walk along 17 miles of the Grand Union Canal.
Maria, who runs the TSB in Potters Bar, joined 32 other managers for the walk from Watford to Tring.
“The walk itself was a challenge, but equally very rewarding. It was great to be greeted at the finish line by hyh CEO Helen Elliott,” said Maria.
Staff at TSB Potters Bar have also been busy raising funds and awareness for hyh which is the branch’s Local Charity Partner. The branch has held bake sales and a hamper raffle to raise £503.15 so far.
“Herts Young Homeless is a vital part of our local community. They work incredibly hard to ensure our teenagers have a warm bed, food and much-needed help,” said Maria.
“I am really passionate about this charity and proud to have them as our Local Charity Partner.”
hyh is a unique charity in Hertfordshire providing services to support vulnerable people who are homeless or at risk of becoming so.
Their focus is on preventing homelessness – from education in schools and family mediation through to providing emergency accommodation for a young person in a volunteer’s home or supporting adults who have mental health needs and housing issues.
TSB’s sole focus is to serve local people and businesses which, in turn, helps fuel local economies across Britain. Instead of having a centrally chosen Charity of the Year, Partners working at TSB are empowered to support a local cause that shares the Bank’s passion for helping local communities thrive.
Maria said: “At TSB we are committed to pioneering a return to local banking and supporting economic growth in our local communities. We are always looking at ways in which we can build better relationships between ourselves, our customers and the communities we serve in order to provide a more local approach to banking.”
