Well done Tim for a fantastic run at the London marathon and raising approximately £4,000 for hyh – an amazing achievement
A few words from Tim:
“I couldn't have asked for better weather for my first marathon and the buzz before the race was hard to describe. All the preparation had gone to plan except for feeling poorly leading up to the day, but I was up for it and raring to go on the start line. The atmosphere around the course was fantastic and I was amazed at the size of the crowds and their unbelievable encouragement. Sadly I needed every bit of their help as I started to struggle after the half way stage, which meant I had a very tough few hours ahead of me. I kept going and made the finish line in 4 hours and 32 minutes, not exactly the time I had planned but I was delighted to have finished.
It was great to see my supporters in the Herts Young Homeless shirts near the end and I would like to thank all those who have supported me. As I turn my attention to collecting the the sponsorship money I expect to reach around £2,500 for hyh which I know will make a big difference to this great local charity and the vulnerable young people it helps and supports.
In summary the day was an amazing experience and it is hard to describe the effort it takes and the feeling of achievement when you cross the line. Once again a massive thank you to all those who supported me and to the thousands of people who gave me such great encouragement on the way round."
