Under 16s Mediation

What is the service?

We offer a FREE, confidential and impartial mediation service to young people aged 10-15 and their parents or carers where there is conflict in the relationship. Mediation can help young people and their families to resolve conflict, improve relationships and enable young people to remain at home or to return home. We work with families whether or not the young person is living at home. Mediation is voluntary and works when all people involved want to make changes.

Our Mediators are fully qualified and highly skilled in managing difficult discussions and high emotions within family meetings.  They will not judge, tell anyone what to do, take sides or give advice.  They will help families to find their own solutions and make lasting changes in how they talk to each other, resulting in fewer arguments and improving family relationships.

Who is the service for?

Young people aged 10-15 and their parents or carers. This may be step parents, grandparents, adoptive or foster parents or other extended family members.  We can also involve siblings if appropriate.

What areas are covered?

We work across the whole of Hertfordshire, meeting families in venues that are neutral and convenient to them.

Length of service

Under 16s normally takes place over 6-8 week period.
